The purpose of The Destiny Learning Academy is to mold and shape the leaders of tomorrow, today. We are a child care facility with an educational twist. Your child(ren) will grow spiritually, physically, socially, emotionally and intellecturally on their own individual level in their own individual manner. Our goal is that each child recognizes the worth that God has for them and realize the value within themselves.

Director Spotlight

Portia Haynes is a passionate and dedicated educator with over 25 years of experience in childcare and early childhood development. As the owner and operator of Destiny Learning Academy a 5 star facility, Portia is a wife a loving mother of 3 and a grandmother of 2 has built a nurturing and innovative environment for children and families in the Tulsa and surrounding area. Her commitment to creating a safe, educational, and loving space for children has earned DLA its reputation as a trusted, family-run childcare facility. Portia’s vision includes offering unique programs such as Bible-based learning, Spanish lessons, and extracurricular activities, all designed to foster growth in every child. She is deeply devoted to her mission of empowering children and partnering with families for success.

Meet our Co-Director

Welcome to Destiny Learning Academy. My name is Jasmine and I am proud to serve as the director of this incredible learning community. Childcare has been a part of my life since the very beginning -I was raised in it! As the daughter of our academy's owner, Portia Haynes, I grew up surrounded by the laughter and curiosity of children, which shaped my lifelong passion for early childhood education.

I pursued a degree in athletic training and physical therapy, but my heart always pulled me back to childcare. After college, I spent years as a nanny for a wonderful family in Houston, gaining valuable hands-on experience in indivalized child development. Eventually, I returned home to step into my role as a director of Destiny Learning Academy where I strive to create a warm nurturing environment for every child in our care.

Anthoney Martinez is a dedicated 19-year-old who has been balancing his senior year of high school while working as an assistant toddler teacher at Destiny Learning Academy. He has a special passion for working with children with autism, using his skills and compassion to make a positive impact in their lives. With one year of experience at DLA, Anthoney is committed to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment. His future goal is to continue making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families.

Paris Weir, a devoted mother of two, including a child with autism, is deeply passionate about supporting families of children with autism. Drawing from her personal experience, she loves guiding parents through doctor visits, addressing the challenges of picky eating, and helping them find nutritious, enjoyable food options. As the head of Student Affairs at Destiny Learning Academy, Paris brings 18 years of experience and extensive knowledge of the academy’s operations, particularly in handling medical documentation. She remains a trusted resource for both parents and students.

Maricela Duran is a devoted mother of two wonderful children. Who holds 2 CDAs one in infants and the other in pre-K. Originally from Zacatecas, Mexico, she spent 13 years working with a government program called Initial Education, where she supported the development of children from infancy to 4 years old. In 2021, Maricela moved to the United States with her husband. Who unfortunately passed away in 2022. For the past three years, she has been an amazing Spanish and infant teacher at Destiny Learning Academy. Maricela is dedicated to providing a nurturing, bilingual environment for her students while continuously working hard to perfect her English language skills. Maricela holds 2 CDAs one in infants and the other in pre-K.

Misty Lynn Moydell is a dedicated child care professional with 30 years of experience working with children of all ages. For the past seven years, she has been a valued member of the Destiny Learning Academy team, bringing her wealth of knowledge and passion for early childhood education to the classroom. Misty is a proud mother of two sons and a loving grandmother to five wonderful grandchildren. Her nurturing spirit and extensive experience make her a cherished part of our learning community.

Antonique Clark is a compassionate and loving teacher who is currently working towards her CDA certificate. For the past two years, she has been a valued member of Destiny Learning Academy, serving as our kind and patient toddler assistant teacher. Antonique is proudly following in her mother’s footsteps, continuing a legacy of dedication to early childhood education.

Anntara Lafayette is a proud parent and former service member who brings discipline and dedication to every aspect of life. With a deep love for children she prioritizes creating a fun structured, and supportive environment for her family. Whether staying active, learning, Spanish, or enjoying her family. Her military background has shaped strong work ethic and commitment to growth, both for herself and her children.

Marisol Telles is devoted mother of six and a passionate child care professional with over 8 years’ experience with DLA. Her caring and nurturing nature positively impact the children that she teaches in the pre-k Classroom. Marisol dedication to both her family and the children in her care reflects her genuine love for helping others grow and thrive.

Jacob Williams is a dedicated educator and proud father of two wonderful daughters. A valued member of Destiny Learning Academy for five years, he is affectionately known by many parents as the "Potty Whisperer." Jacob serves as one of our Master Toddler Teachers and also takes on the important role of responsible transporter.

Tanisha is a dedicated mother and passionate to becoming a childcare director. I bring a unique blend of empathy , experience and leadership to everything I do. With a heart deeply invested in the well-being and development of children, I create an environment where each child feels valued, understood, and encouraged to thrive . My role as a mother shapes my approach to care, while my experience will encourage me to build a nurturing, fun and structured environment for both children and staff. I am committed to providing a space where families feel supported, children feel safe, and learning is always a joyful enriching experience.I am a partner in every child's growth journey, and a deep understanding of the transformative power of early childhood education.
